RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. It’s like subscribing to a magazine. Every time a new magazine is available, you receive it in your mail box. RSS is the same thing, but with digital files. When you subscribe to a feed, the newest files will appear in your feed reader. A feed reader reads the RSS feeds. It can be your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari), a web-based Feed Reader (My Yahoo) or your email client (Microsoft Outlook). You can even have these feeds sent to your mobile phone.
Feed Readers
Feed readers gather all the RSS feeds and allows you veiw them all in one place. Since every feed reader is different, the following are some of the more populare feed readers. Please refer to the Help section for more information on how to add your RSS feeds to the feed reader.
Internet Explorer and Firefox for the PC and Safari for the Mac will act as feed readers. When you see the small orange icon in your tool bar you know you have an RSS feed on that page.
Internet Explorer
When you see the small orange icon in your tool bar, click on it. Click on the EAA 32 newsletter RSS Feed in the drop down box.
The RSS page will open and the past newsletters will be listed. Click on any title to open the newsletter.
To subscribe to this feed so that it appears in Feed viewer of Internet Explorer, click on the Subscribe to the feed link in the yellow box.
Click on the Subscribe button.
To view the feed, click on the "Favorites" star in the upper left corner of the tool bar. Then click on the orange "Feeds" button in the middle. All your feeds will be listed in one place.
Bold text means that there are unread feeds in that list.
Firefox
Firefox calls RSS feeds Live Bookmarks. Click on the RSS icon in the address bar.
The Add Live Bookmark window opens.
Click Add to add the Chapter 32 Newsletter RSS feed to the live Bookmard.
To access the Live Bookmarks and RSS feeds, on your tool bar, click on Bookmarks. Click on Chapter 32 Newsletters. Click on the newsletter that you want to open.
